There are many forms of printmaking. On my Fine Art course at CityLit, I learned mono-printing (a spontaneous method that can produce one-off prints with few facilities) and relief printing (a lino-cut or wood-cut method, which involves gouging out lines/areas of a sheet of lino or piece of wood, which is then inked-up and can be printed several times in different layers/colours). This process can take out an element of control and has inspired some of my abstract paintings, by breaking down the original representative images.

The spiders web print is from my first wood-cut and the wood grain dictated my lines to some degree.
